The first "rice-noodle festival" was held on April 3 in Gucheng Village, Jinning, a county under the jurisdiction of Kunming. Villagers sang and danced to celebrate the opening of the festival which has become a new visiting card of stimulation of rural tourism.

The rice-related festival has enjoyed a long history. More than 300 years ago, villagers went to the temple fair to trade for rice-noodle and eat a bowl of it, in the hope of harmonious life and good harvest.

Li Qiongfen (李琼芬), a 63-year-old villager in Gucheng Village, said she used to make rice-noodle every temple fair. She has retired today, but she is delighted about the present lively temple fair. (Editor:Lynn)
