Balagezong is a strange conception for people in Shangri-la a few years ago. It used to be an isolated mystery. Today, it has become a landmark covering a land of 176 square kilometers. According to a tale of local Tibetan villagers, it is a place where the god lives. Balagezong implies the Grand Canyon National Park in Shangri-la.
Grand canyon of Balazongge is a masterpiece of nature. The fall of the canyon is as high as 3,545 meters. A characteristic of the canyon is that valleys are in valleys, and gorges are in gorges. But all of them are connected. Rare flowers and herbs can be seen in the primeval forest.
Isolated Village--Bala Village
In order to run away from wars, a tribe called Gukangba was moved to this land. Since then, Tibetans in Bala Village have lived here from generation to generation. The ancient mysterious language, living custom and tall buildings have been well-preserved and called "living fossils of ancient Kangba Culture". The sheep gets strong, grains get harvested in the fields and beautiful Bala Tibetan girls sing and dance in the village.
