Find neglected scenic spots scattered around Dali
1. Cycling around the Erhai Lake
The simplest way to tour around Dali is bicycle. Though you may be not an amateur of bicycling, it is OK to ride a bike around the lake, as the distances between each station along the bike line is not far. It is easy to reach one station from the other.
Bicycle renting:
You can find many stores for renting mountain bikes. The average price for one is less than 30 yuan for a day.
2. Caicun Village:
Caicun Village is just two kilometers from the ancient town in Dali. It costs about 10 yuan to cover the distance by taxi. Some tourists also take a ferryboat to Caicun Village at the price of 120 yuan. The village is the narrowest part of Er'hai Lake.
It is a nice idea to travel around the village as this village is closely connected with Wacun Village where some temples and ancestral halls have been well preserved.
3. Xizhou Town:
Xizhou is about 18 km from the north of the Dali Ancient Town.
Traffic:
You can take a bus connecting Xiaguan Town and Xizhou Town 5yuan per one
You can also take a taxi there from Xiaguan at the price of 30 yuan.
Accommodation: as it is close to the ancient town, a majority of tourists choose to return to the ancient town or head to the next attraction Shuanglang. The hostel with the best condition there is Xilinyuan Hostel. The price for a standard room is about 300 yuan, but you had better book in advance. Booking telephone: 0872-2452988.
4. Shuanglang Town.
Shuanglang Town is located in the northeast of Dali.
Accommodation: Xisi Hostel is the quietest and coziest place in the town. It is also a perfect place to watch the scenery of Cangshan Mountain and Er'hai Lake. You can also see Yuji Island. It is also suggested to book rooms in advance if you plan to live here. Price of the Scenery Room is 680 yuan, and 300 yuan for a standard room.
Traffic: Shuanglang is about 40 km from the Xiaguang Town, and you can take a bus here everyday. The ticket price is 7yuan per one. If you prefer riding a bicycle, it takes about 8 hours to get there from the ancient town.
Admission for Yuji Island: 20 yuan per one.
5. Wase Town:
Wase Town is situated in the middle-east of Dali and borders with Shuanglang Town.
Traffic: you can take a minibus there at the price of 15 yuan per one, and it passes through Shuanglang Town. You can also take a chartered bus(car) there, and the price is about 50 yuan.
Food: the seafood of Wase is good at a reasonable price.
