The biggest production base of haematococcus pluvialis(雨生红球藻） within the Asian-Pacific region has gone into operation since October 16 this year, according to Kunming government.

The production base, located in Shilin(石林) County, managed by Yunnan Yuncaijinke Biotechnology Co., Ltd. （云南云彩金可生物技术有限公司）, covers a land of 150 mu, and will be expanded to 1,000 mu next year.

It is predicted that the base may produce freeze-dried powder of haematococcus pluvialis over 300 tons per year, and extract natural astaxanthin（虾青素） of about 10 tons per year in future. Production value of the base is estimated to reach 0.4-0.6 billion yuan in each year.

In terms of its present production capacity, the base may extract around 3-ton astaxanthin in about 4 months, which is very likely to account for 40% in the international market.

Yunnan Yuncaijinke Biotechnology Co., Ltd. has signed production and sales contracts with Japanese WAKASA company, American Homeproduct company and other foreign companies. Products of the base including haematococcus pluvialis and astaxanthin will be exported to America, Japan, Holland, Britain, etc. soon.
