A 73-kilometer-long green belt area will be built on both sides of Kunming-Shilin Highway, according to a government meeting of Kunming recently.

The green belt area along Kunming-Shilin Highway will be expanded to the Kunming Economic and Technological Development Zone, Yangzonghai Scenic Spot, Yiliang County and Shilin County. It covers an area of 73,367 mu (4,891 hectares). The ancillary facilities include 7 pump stations, 90 pools, 3,500 cisterns and 165-kilometer-long pipe networks.

The construction of green belt area is expected to be completed by the end of 2014. (Editors: Ryan Li, Lynn)
