[InKunming--Kunming] A solar halo appeared in the sky of Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province this afternoon(April 9th), attracting local citizens to take pictures and post on Wechat Moments. Images of this spectacle phenomenon were quickly circulated on the Internet.

Many people made funny comments on the phenomenon, like “the photos of solar halo appears in almost all my friends’ Moments.””Right now, all of people in Kunming are looking at the sky.””Today is a special day because of the solar halo.”

In fact, halo is the name for a family of optical phenomena produced by light interacting with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. Halos can have many forms, ranging from colored or white rings to arcs and spots in the sky. Many of these are near the sun or moon, but others occur elsewhere or even in the opposite part of the sky.

Atmospheric phenomena such as halos were used as part of weather lore as an empirical means of weather forecasting before meteorology was developed. They often do mean that rain is going to fall within the next 24 hours as the cirrostratus clouds that cause them can signify an approaching frontal system.

Besides, the landscape of solar halo is pretty gorgeous and different. It is not wise enough to stare at it with naked eyes as it will somehow hurt eyesight. As a result, when you enjoy the beautiful scenery of solar halo, you are supposed to go home to take clothes hanging outside in case of raining.(All the pictures comes from Internet.)
