Fantastic chicken museum and where to find it

[InKunming--Yunnan] Yunnan Agricultural University (YAU) Chicken Culture Museum, located in the old campus of YAU, officially opened on October 18. It is the first chicken-themed cultural museum in Yunnan, even the south of China.

You can learn some interesting knowledge and culture about chicken here. It introduces the domestication of Chicken, the distribution of genetic resources, chicken customs, the life of human beings and chicken, Yunnan chicken delicacy and so on. Furthermore, over 90 specimens and artworks of chicken are freely displayed.

It took YAU’s tutors and students two years to travel around Yunnan province, collecting nearly 200 chicken. Taking advantage of Yunnan’s plentiful chicken genetic resources, the museum not only teaches people how to cook and eat chicken, but also disseminates chicken culture to the public.

The museum has attracted a great number of people since it opened. It is free to the public every Monday to Friday, and reservation for weekend visiting is required.
