Access to safe drinking water in rural communities across China has improved over the past decade under the strong leadership of the Chinese government, with effective measures taken to tap new water sources, upgrade purification capacity and bring populations closer to viable water supplies. Since the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress in 2012, tens of thousands of safe drinking water projects have been started across China, ensuring that rural residents can rely on safe supplies.
