Hundreds of Asian openbills visit Fuxian Lake for springtime sojourn
Recently, over a hundred Asian openbills have arrived at the wetlands of Fuxian Lake to welcome spring. They glide gracefully through the sky and gather by the lake to forage, creating a stunning tableau of birds coexisting harmoniously with nature.
The Asian openbill is a nationally protected species, classified as a Level II conservation animal. These birds prefer to inhabit marshes, shallow waters, and paddy fields, thriving in relatively moist areas with healthy ecosystems.
In recent years, through measures such as wetland protection and biodiversity conservation, Chengjiang in Yuxi has provided a favorable habitat for wildlife, fostering a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
