As jacarandas prepare to unleash their purple storm, Kunming's Panlong District has quietly launched two waves of "absolutely stunning purple"—one offering a journey through the millennia-old Silk Road via mystical plants and the other inviting you to experience romantic spring moments beneath cascading wisteria waterfalls.

From April 9 to May 22, 2025, the 7th Allium Plant Culture and Art Exhibition, themed "A Glimpse of Alliums, Ten Thousand Years of Silk Road," has arrived with allium charm.

The exhibition is held at the China-Ukraine Global Allium Garden (Kunming Center) in the East Garden of the Kunming Botanical Garden, showcasing over a dozen varieties and approximately 1,000 ornamental Allium plants, along with some wild species and economic Alliums. As various allium flowers bloom, the garden will transform into a fresh, purple-hued wonder during the event.

Within the garden, over 5,800 Allium plants weave a purple starry sea. Giant alliums bloom like massive lollipops in the sky, while the China-Ukraine Global Allium Garden carries the plant genetic code of the Belt and Road Initiative.

These Allium plants are both familiar and unfamiliar—ranging from the "onions" and "garlic" we know, to common table staples like chives, onions, and Chinese onion. There are also ornamental varieties for gardening, such as Allium giganteum and Allium wallichii . During the exhibition, these ornamental alliums will bloom in succession, inviting you to witness their stunning beauty.
