The evening primrose belongs to the Onagraceae Family and is a perennial herb. Its flowers are mostly white or pink, with a unique fragrance. True to its poetic Chinese name "moon-viewing grass", these ephemeral flowers perform a nightly ballet—unfurling their petals at dusk and retreating with the morning sun's first light.

This plant is not only highly ornamental but also valued for its  medicinal properties. It is often used to regulate the body and improve skin health. Additionally, the roots of evening primrose can be used in herbal medicine, possessing anti-inflammatory and blood pressure-lowering effects.

Key points for identifying evening primrose flowers

1.Petals are broadly obovate, slightly notched at the apex. It exhibits "flowers before leaves".

2.Evening primrose is highly adaptive, tolerant of cold, drought, and poor soil, and prefers full sunlight.

3. The flowering period is from June to July (in warm southern regions, it may bloom as early as April, May and continue through August).

When a gentle breeze swept through, the entire field of flowers would ripple into undulating waves, their slender stems tracing tender arcs with every sway. Five petals, delicate as cicada wings, cradled pale yellow stamens, resembling pink butterflies ready to take flight. Strolling along the blue jogging path of Dianchi Houhai toward the Western Hills, in just a ten-minute walk, you’ll find yourself enveloped by a sea of pure white and soft pink blossoms. These evening primroses, like bashful maidens with bowed heads, burst into their brightest smiles under the sun. Some are as pure white as snow, others as soft pink as rosy clouds—each releasing a faint, sweet fragrance that gently intoxicates the senses.
