Over 270,000 tons of international cargo imported and exported via China-Laos Railway in the first quarter
According to Kunming Customs, about 276,000 tons of international cargo were imported and exported via the China-Laos Railway under the supervision and clearance of Kunming Customs In the first quarter of 2022.

90,200 tons of cargo were exported from Mohan Railway Port via the China-Laos Railway in the first quarter of 2022, which were mainly fodders, daily necessities, and mechanical and electrical products. And 185,800 tons of import cargo were mainly rubbers, iron ore, and charcoals from Southeast Asia.
The China-Laos Railway started operation on Dec. 3, 2021. The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) was formally implemented on Jan. 1, 2022, bringing closer economic and trade exchanges between China and ASEAN.
With the advantages of short transportation time, low logistics cost, high safety, and environmental protection, international freight via the China-Laos Railway have developed rapidly. At present, international freight trains from more than 20 cities are quickly cleared through customs. The transportation network connects Bohai Economic Rim, Yangtze River Delta, and Pearl River Delta and covers Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and other Southeast Asian countries. It has become an important logistics channel to drive the economic and trade development of China, Laos, and other Southeast Asian countries.
